When One Section Is the Problem
A sectional garage door is exactly that: four or five separate panels hinged together. When one is damaged and the others are sound, replacing the single section is usually the sensible repair. The track, springs, cables, rollers and opener all stay, and the cost is a fraction of a new door.
Damage arrives in a few reliable ways around Waco. Vehicles reversing into a partly open door catch the bottom section, which is the most common. Spring hail dents the upper panels across a whole street at once. Water sitting against the bottom edge of the door rusts it through from the inside over several years. And a door that jammed and was forced with the opener often ends up with a creased top section where the operator arm pulled against it.
Cosmetic or Structural
This is the question worth answering before spending anything, and you can usually answer it yourself.
Go out in the morning or late afternoon when the sun is low and raking across the door face. Cosmetic damage shows as shallow round dimples scattered across the panel, the signature of hail, and the door keeps running normally. It looks worse than it is.
Structural damage looks different. A crease running across the panel, a section bowed out of plane, a gap that opens between two panels when the door is down, or a panel corner that no longer lines up with the track. Run the door and watch: if it hesitates, scrapes or rocks as the damaged section passes the curve in the track, the panel has lost its shape and the door is fighting itself on every cycle.
Structural damage does not stay contained. A bowed section drags in the track, which loads the rollers on that side, which pulls the door out of square, which strains the cables. Left long enough it produces a snapped cable or an off-track door that costs more than the panel would have.
Rust through the bottom section is not repairable. The bottom brackets carrying the lift cables are bolted to that panel, and they are under full tension whenever the door is down. If the steel around those fixings has perforated, there is nothing sound to bolt to. That panel gets replaced or the door does.
The Matching Problem
Sourcing is the real constraint on panel replacement, and it is worth being straight about it.
Manufacturers change panel profiles, the pattern stamped into the steel, every few years. They also revise their color ranges. A door installed in the last decade from a major maker such as Clopay, Amarr, Overhead Door or Wayne Dalton can usually be matched. A door from the 1990s often cannot, because the profile is discontinued.
Color is the second issue even when the profile matches. A door that has faced Central Texas sun for ten years has faded, and factory white is no longer the white on your garage. A new section in the correct original color will read as noticeably fresher. The usual fix is painting the full door afterwards with an exterior acrylic latex, which also resets the finish on the older panels.
Where the profile cannot be matched, the honest options are living with a visible difference, replacing the door, or in some cases replacing two sections so the mismatch reads as deliberate. You should hear which of those applies before committing.

If Hail Did It

If you are documenting storm damage, photograph the door in raking light where the dents actually show, note whether the door has started binding, and include it while the rest of the claim is being put together. Whether it is covered and how is between you and your own insurer, and worth asking them directly rather than assuming either way.
What the Work Involves
The door is clamped and the spring tension released, because sections cannot be separated safely under load. The damaged panel is unbolted from the hinges above and below and slid out, with the rollers and hinges transferred or replaced as needed. The new section goes in, the door is reassembled, the spring is rewound and the balance checked.
While it is apart, the hinges either side of the replaced section get inspected. Impact damage bends hinges and elongates their fixing holes, and refitting a new panel to bent hardware puts it straight back out of alignment.
